The d-e-m-e-e-s-t-e-r gallery is a unique space that combines both the strong identity of the two artists who animate it and an openness to otherness which they instill in their capacity as curators.
Its story began in 2022, when Pascal Demeester, an visual artist, decided to create a temporary gallery to showcase his own work. One year later, he was joined by Hilde Vanderplancke, a photographer. Together, these two artists take on the roles of managers, curators, and exhibitors.

Thed-e-m-e-e-s-t-e-r gallery has a specificity that is entirely its own. In a collaborative and constructive approach, founded on curiosity and a humility combined with high standards, the two artist-gallery owners nurture a profound desire: to foster meaningful artistic encounters. To this end, they offer an annual program in which their own creations alternate with the works of invited artists.

Alongside several annual exhibitions runs an incessant quest — a continuous research process led by Pascal and Hilde. This dynamic creates a strong dialogue between the studio and the gallery, oscillating between confrontation and introspection.

The gallery is ideally located in Ixelles, near the European Parliament, the Museum of Natural Sciences, and Leopold Park.

La galerie d-e-m-e-e-s-t-e-rest un espace singulier qui conjugue à la fois l’identité affirmée des deux artistes qui l’animent et une ouverture à l’altérité qu’ils insufflent en qualité de curateurs.
Son histoire débute en 2022, lorsque Pascal Demeester, plasticien, décide de créer une galerie éphémère afin d’y présenter ses propres travaux. Un an plus tard, il est rejoint par Hilde Vanderplancke, photographe. Ensemble, ces deux artistes endossent les rôles de gestionnaires, curateurs et exposants.

La galeried-e-m-e-e-s-t-e-rpossède une spécificité qui lui est propre. Dans une démarche collaborative et constructive, fondée sur la curiosité et une humilité conjuguée à une grande exigence, les deux galéristes-artistes nourrissent une volonté profonde : celle de favoriser des rencontres artistiques porteuses de sens. À cet effet, ils proposent un agenda annuel dans lequel leurs créations cèdent tour à tour la place aux œuvres des artistes invités.

Au rythme de plusieurs expositions annuelles s’ajoute une quête incessante, un travail de recherche permanent mené par Pascal et Hilde. Ce processus crée une dynamique forte, un dialogue constant entre l’atelier et la galerie, oscillant entre confrontation et introspection.

La galerie est idéalement située à Ixelles, à proximité du Parlement européen, du Muséum des sciences naturelles et du parc Léopold.

De galerie d-e-m-e-e-s-t-e-ris een unieke ruimte die zowel de uitgesproken identiteit van de twee kunstenaars die haar vormgeven combineert, als een openheid naar andersheid die zij als curatoren erin brengen.
Het verhaal begon in 2022, toen Pascal Demeester, een installateur en beeldend kunstenaar, besloot een tijdelijke galerie op te richten om zijn eigen werk te tonen. Een jaar later werd hij vergezeld door Hilde Vanderplancke, een fotografe. Samen nemen deze twee kunstenaars de rollen van beheerders, curatoren en exposanten op zich.

De galeried-e-m-e-e-s-t-e-rheeft een eigen specifieke identiteit. In een collaboratieve en constructieve aanpak, gebaseerd op nieuwsgierigheid en een bescheidenheid die gepaard gaat met hoge eisen, koesteren de twee galeriehouders-kunstenaars een diepe drijfveer: betekenisvolle artistieke ontmoetingen stimuleren. Daarom bieden zij een jaarlijks programma aan waarin hun eigen creaties beurtelings plaatsmaken voor de werken van uitgenodigde kunstenaars.

Naast meerdere jaarlijkse tentoonstellingen is er een onophoudelijke zoektocht, een voortdurende onderzoeksinspanning geleid door Pascal en Hilde. Dit proces creëert een sterke dynamiek, een constant dialoog tussen atelier en galerie, schommelend tussen confrontatie en introspectie.
